The group was born in 1973 with cultural purposes, through dances, music, songs and flag waving exercises, reviving ancient local traditions. The group is currently composed of about 50 members which are divided into 4 different sectors: the Dancers, the Musicians, the Drums and the Flag-wavers.
The Dancers sector consists of girls and ladies who show typical dancing and steps from the Piverone area. The most famous dancing is called “Curenta”, a traditional dance well known in Piedmont that expresses joy and fun.

The Musician sector draws inspiration from the traditional “Quintet” from the Canavese area. The group is composed of five instruments: clarinet, trombone, trumpet or sax, tenor horn and bass. The group revives the traditional music from Piverone composed and performed by our ancestors and handed down with passion from generation to generation until today.

The Drums sector is called the “Tamburini” sector, they play an essential role calling out the timing with the drum roll, at the same time they hold the rhythm of each performance.

Last but not least, the Flag-wavers through the use of colored drapes, represent the municipal coat of arms making every event unique and colorful.

The traditional costumes in white, red and black reproduce a local peasant model from 1800s and the female costumes are enriched by hand embroidery and the highly characteristic wooden footwear called “Ciabot”.

The folklore group has participated in several local, national and international events.

In addition, every year the group organizes the traditional “Festa d’la Castigna” that is held on the third Sunday of October.

The group is a member of the Italian Folkloristic Union (UFI).
